Onam!!!

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

Onam is a festival of joy and colours. It falls during the month of Chingam(Malayalam Calendar). It approximately falls during August or September. The festival marks the homecoming of King Mahabali who was sent down to patalam(hell) by Lord Vamana. The King was a favorite among praja(people) as it is believed that there was nothing evil during his reign-no crime no thieves no lies! The festival is celebrated during 10 days. The main celebration is placing earthern mounds are placed infront of the house and decorated with flowers of various colour and shape and is called athapookalam. Various competitions are also conducted judging the beauty among different decoration. The myth behind celebrating with flowers is that Mahabali was allowed to visit his people by Vamana before he was sent to patala. The thiruvonam day is considered to be that auspicious day when Mahabali comes to earth to meet his people. Hence everybody irrespective of caste, religion or whatever decorates their house and cleans up their house. The best part in Onam celebration is Onasadhya(Onam Feast). It is like around 11 dishes. It is onne helluva feast and I love it madly. There are other celebrations or onakallikal(Onam Games) too like snake boat race, then kaikotti kalli(a dance form) blah blah! Apart from all these everyone gets new dress. As I said, its like everyone celebrates ie. be happy so that Mahabali becomes happy seeing us all happy!

The Myth behind Mahabali being sent to patala:Mahabali's reign was so good, as I said earlier, no crime no lies etc. Everyone was so happy then but during some yaga Mahabali declared that he will give anything that anyone sought from him. Vamana took advantage of the situation and made a simple request to give him the land he measures by his feet steps. Mahabali agrees to this. Vamana soon grew large and with his first step he covered all of earth and with his second step all of heaven. Vamana had no place left to cover and Mahabali asks to consider his head as third step. Hence Vamana sends Mahabali down to patala. However Mahabali was granted his wish to see his people once every year.

Onam festival is very important to every South Indian especially Malayalees. Most of them have grown up celebrating Onam very year. So the festival brings some nostalgia in people. All the fun they had in collecting flowers for the pookalam, all those onakallikal and onasadhya. It brings them a flash of all those good old days in their life. In the fast lane of life, people tend to forget their values and culture and (I personally feel) Onam helps a lot in reviving the true shape of the person. It reminds him the vivid culture in our artforms and lifestyle. Onam festival is never a religious festival though it mainly includes Hindu mythology. Irrespective of caste and religion everyone get together and celebrate it happily. It is said that "We must celebrate Onam with whatever we have-poor or rich"

Goondas And Quotation Gangs!!

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

Kerala is now the den of goondas and quotation gangs. Goondas(or goons) are thugs hired to physically torture a person. It can even go up to assasination of the target. Quotation remarks the same in a different aspect, but in a way they are feathers of the same bird. After the recent murder of Paul Muthoot who was the head Muthoot M George Group was murdered and it still is a mystery. Kerala Police has confirmed the influence of goondas in the crime. But the mystery is the goondas are closely related to top politicians in the state. Police has not been able to come with proper plot behind the crime. They seem to protect the someone occupying high profile in the society. Different stories are coming up in the press every day and the truth GOD only knows. Goondas and Quotation Gangs is ruling every district in the state. Even the Police department as well as many politicians avail their "service" and as a result owe them commitment not to turn them in. There is a funny part too. There are even female goondas. Frankly, I don't know if they are called female thugs itself because I have never heard of such a thing prevailing in India. I read in local daily newspaper, under the goonda act many females have been caught in various places in the state. Goondas have "various levels of action". They can just blackmail you or even take away your life. They will do anything for money, interesting right? They are not biased too. They don't bother if it is a small kid or very old man. The goons play a major role in most of the crimes across the state. They have the political influence and aid from the police. So they practically are Goondas, The Almighty!Interesting fact about most of these goons are they don't have cut muscles and all ie. most of them are skinny. But the influence and power they possess that matters. They will do anything for money and they already have get-out-of-jail-free card.

Watching Movie On Release Day!!

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

Yay! I got to watch another movie on its release day. Trust me, its frigging awesome. It really is awesome to watch the movie after all the hustle and bustle for the tickets. The crowd in front of the theatre and the long wait in the ticket counter for tickets.! I had been waiting for the release of movie Kandasaamy for around 2 years. I had planned of watching it on release day. The movie was supposed to release in May 2009. But the release dates were postponed everytime. Though they released the movie at last on 21st August 2009! But i feel, it was not publicised properly. Anyways!

I, as said before, wanted to watch it on release day. But it clashes with my college time table since it is a working day. Obviously I prefered the movie to my friggin college(:D)! I attended my first hour and jumped out! I went to nearby town Kollam(like around 50 kms from here). The crowd in front of theater was so huge that we had no idea how we(me and my friends!) were going to get those damn tickets. But my friend's friend was there and we gave him the money for tickets and managed somehow. The black ticket mafia in theatres are so cool. They just come and stand in front of the queue. Nobody dare questions them!!Well, by the time ticket counter opened, all tickets were sold soon enough that our friend's friend too didn't get ticket. We were left with two option! One go back and the other get a black ticket(2nd hand tickets..!google it if you dont know the meaning of black ticket!) We bought tickets for 80 bucks from the guys selling black tickets. Movie started and it was like mediocre theater! Vikram(hero in the movie) rocks! The movie was super cool. Well, that is not the response I saw from my friends. Yet, I conclude movie is not that bad!

New Bike This Month!

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

Finally, my dad promised me a new bike guys! I will get to replace my old Kinetic Nova at last. I always had dreamed of a bike for myself, but never been able to get one. Fortunately (for me), Nova is needing repairs very often plus we got it by second hand from a nearby person. It was completely worn out in all ways, but we needed a vehicle since I had to go to college(lolz!) plus I cant get a bus to coll not that often! Well, he made the commitment very recently. He has promised that he will buy me a bike by the end of this month. I made it clear that I wanted Bajaj Pulsar, when he enquired about bike name, model and stuffs. I was always fascinated about Bajaj Pulsar. Let it be 150cc, 180cc or even 200cc. But I am going either for 180cc or 200cc (mostly 180cc - economic constraints guys!). Anyways I want to get the vehicle as soon as possible. Moreover I don't want dad to get me some other bike too. I want Pulsar 180 chrome black :( . He changes plan last minute and I am afraid he won't buy me Pulsar :( . Will upload pics and all after I get the bike. Buh Bye till then guys! Pray that I get Pulsar 180 :)

Synopsis:

And also Navorski doesn't speak English well, so no one can talk to him and he can't talk to anyone. But he somehow adapts and sets up residence in the airport, which makes the man who placed him there unhappy cause, it seems he is line for a promotion but Navroski's presence might complicate that. So he tries to get Navorski to leave but Navorski remains where he is. Navorski makes friends with some of the people who work in the airport and is attracted to a flight attendant he runs into whenever she comes in.

My Review:

The movie rocks simply. A helluva direction as well as screenplay! The movie doesn't drag or make you yawn. I guarantee. The movie is meek and simple. A brilliant movie by Tom Hanks and Spielberg. Hats off to Tom Hanks' acting. He really do fit deep in his role. Life is all about waiting! Thats the theme of the movie!

I will give 9/10 for this flick!

Kambakkht Ishq 2009

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

  • Produced By Sajid Nadiadwala
  • Directed By Sabbir Khan
  • Cast : Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Kirron Kher, Amrita Arora, Aftab Shivdasani....
Synopsis:
All about ego clash between Viraj Shergill (Akshay Kumar), a famous stunt man in "Hollywood", and Simritha Rai ( Kareena Kapoor), a model and surgeon. Well, the story is all about a watch being left behind by Simritha while operating Viraj and how she takes it back to save her career. But, obvious fact like any Hindi movie, at last Viraj and Simritha gets married forgetting all the ego clash and fights. The movie also casts Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh, Denise Richards in special appearance.

My Review:
This movie sucks. Please don't dare watch it. Since the attracting name, cool promos and Hollywood stars like Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh, Denise Richards I saw the movie with high expectation. The last 2 or 3 Akshay Kumar movies have been flops, and I feel Kambakkht Ishq can add to that list. Many goofed up, its-so-obvious scenes made the movie really sick and weird. I still wonder how Sylvester Stallone ended up saving Amrita and Kareena from those bullies. Miracles yaar.! I am not mentioning about their 6 or 7 kisses. A very bad script with a mediocre direction. 2 hours of boring comedy and coward stunts by Akshay Kumar made me feel really bad for him. Songs can't be worse more than this. Make some good movies dude.!

I will give 1/10 for this film

Be The Change !!!

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

“Be the change you want to see in the world” - Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948)

Today, world stands in a crisis, financially geographically.... Nobody can deny it. But it doesn't mean that a solution for that is impossible. We acclimate ourselves during problems and same is the case under the crisis we are in. But are we really acclimating. Well, people fret around with a single thought - I got to change the world. But are we really changing? .Geographically speaking, while you read this blog the ocean level is rising. The land is subsiding every second. But due to the size of earth, the results can be seen after many years. The polar ice caps are melting due to the Global warming. Human life stands in a still once the land subsides completely under ocean.

But, it's not late still. We can still work for 'our lives'. The sooner we start, the better it is. IYCN, Indian Youth Climate Network, is a NGO working for the good interests in preserving the environment neat and clean for future generations. More accurately speaking, in order to avoid the calamities we will undergo if this condition persist for longer time. IYCN is initiating a move to change the world called Baadlav 2009 with the moto "Be the change". It is a week-long climate camp to be held at Delhi from July 18th to July 23rd. It is scheduled to be held at Lodhi Institutional Area, Delhi.

ICYN is one among the NGO's working to bring that change that can ensure eco-friendly life for everyone. A world where we exist peacefully in harmony with nature. To change the muddy polluted water lakes to stream blue water lakes. A change is necessary for the hour. But our actions must testimony the change. Our actions must be evident that we work for the change. We can save a lot of energy by proper usage of energy. Most of us leave the electrical appliances working even after its use. By switching it off, we can save electrical energy and money mainly. In a poverty-stricken world, money is equally important, but not more important than anyone's life.! The main reason for the environmental crisis is pollution. We waste a lot of fuel while burning them. Mostly they won't be properly combusted producing a lot of harmful chemicals which can harm the environment. The carbon dioxide produced by burning of fuels and all other hydrocarbons accumulates in the atmosphere and causes GREENHOUSE EFFECT. Thus the heat from sun is trapped in Earth's atmosphere and as a result global temperature increases. Hence the ice caps at polar and arctic region melt. This is GLOBAL WARMING. See how a small change can result in such a drastic effect. Have you ever thought about this when u waste fuel??

A video on Global warming

By checking these small things, we can bring about a big change in effect. But first make the change at your home, then your neighbours. Literally, it end up as a change throughout nation. Don't wait for others to start working for the change, instead you be the first to.

Check your Carbon Dioxide Footprint from this site: click here
My Results:
Your estimated greenhouse gas emissions are 9.3 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent per year. I feel really bad about myself for playing a role in distorting our atmosphere. I have made up mind to make that change, not just by words but by action. I will check my footprint after one month. Let's see how much change i can make. Try it out!

Save energy, Pollute less, Recycle instead of wasting.!

TED-Technology Entertainment Design

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

TED, the abbreviation for Technology Entertainment Design, is a conference that defines its mission as "ideas worth spreading" . It started out in 1984 as a move to bring people from three different spheres together - Technology Entertainment Design. The lectures, also called TED Talks, cover a broad set of topics including science, arts and design, politics, education, culture, business, global issues, technology and development, and entertainment.

TED was founded by Richard Saul Wurman and Harry Marks in the year 1984. TED has been held annually since 1990. The lectures are given by renown people from various fields. For example, Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, James D Watson etc. The lectures are aimed mainly to bring out various ideas in good interests. Its held in various places and lectures are given by people from various fields. For instance, Bill Clinton, in 2007, talked about building health care system in Rwanda. The programme give away a prize money of $100,000 and granted a "wish to change the world" which they unveil at TED. This act was introduced in the year 2006. Talks have been made available online on the TED website, youtube and iTunes.

The TED has been headquartered in New York City and Vancouver. The conference is held in Monterey, California. But TED has launched a programme called TED India to be held this year during November at Mysore. Well, The TED has not declared about speakers, but there are a lot of obvious questions which can be discussed at the conference. The significant role TED plots is it scans through bare minimum. All problems affecting are considered over the conference. Let it be poverty or malnutrition or even an epidemic over a small place. TED comes forward to solve the problems which are stamped 'IMPOSSIBLE'. TED is not only a problem-solver but can be an entertainer too. A lot of Bollywood stars are expected for the TED conference at Mysore. Renown people from all fields gather at TED conference-music, film industry, scientists etc. Such a gathering can yield a great result. Ideas and solutions are numerous.

Video proving technology has no limits

I went through some of the TED talks. They obviously are inspiring. But other than that, I found something hidden. It maybe a positive sign for a change throughout world that's going to follow. But I bet that, TED is a revolution in all spheres.

Dr.Kalam Once Went To Betgeri

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

I would like to start by asking how many of you are aware about the pathetic medical system prevailing in rural areas? Till date there are many Primary Rural Health Care Center running on sulfur ointments for all diseases. Its pretty depressing to see children of 10-12 years die at a very small age due to lack of proper immunization when required. They are affected by all kinds of diseases like polio, cholera. The sad part is it ends up into an epidemic and the whole village suffer. The rural primary center is neither well equipped nor have proper medicines. A lot of people lose their lives because of that. Well this statement might seem easy because we all know about it. But assume an epidemic spread across your colony or resident area and everyone is deceased. How will it be? Each and everyone's life is valuable-rich or poor irrespective.

A Rural Primary Health Centre

Well, recently I happened to read an article on an E-Paper " Billion Beats" by Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam about an incident he encountered in a rural place called Betgeri. The place is located in Kadag District in interior Karnataka. Actually, Dr. Kalam met Dr.Solomon, who was practicing at a rural CSI hospital in Betgeri, at Lakshmeshwar where he was scheduled to interact with engineering students. Dr. Kalam as usual asked him "Wat do you do?". Well, the thing that made Dr. Kalam visit the Betgeri was Dr.Solomon's reply. He replied "Sir, I am serving in a rural CSI hospital in the interior Karnataka, a place called Betgeri, Gadag District and I attend 250 patients everyday". He attended 250 patients a day in a Rural Health Care Centre. Interested Dr.Kalam intended to visit the place and Dr.Solomon accompanied him to Betgeri. The hospital was set up back in 19th century during the times when Basel Mission sent missionaries to India. During 1902, the mission was very active in Karnataka and the general condition of people was miserable. Epidemics-cholera,malaria etc and malnutrition was widespread. The mission established the hospital due to the acute need of medical care. The hospital was run by doctor missionaries till early 1970's. But once they left, the hospital had to manage funds for its maintenance. But a lady gynecologist run the hospital with her selfless service. Many doctors served at the hospital. Dr.Solomon, one among them, after graduation, he worked as Medical Officer in this hospital from 1980-83 and then specialized in General Medicine at C.M.C Vellore, had joined the hospital as Physician and Medical Superintendent in 1986, when there was no secondary care hospital in the region. But Dr.Solomon along with help of fellow doctors upgraded hospital into secondary health care centre. Many mandatory equipments and facilities were availed. They are able to conduct even invasive surgery! The role Dr.Solomon played was to keep the 'show running'. He had to manage funds for the working of the hospital. He reduced the fees for all facilities and medical care to bare minimum for the sake of people in that area. They could afford the medical care though they were poor. For an instance, the ICU bed fee was Rs.100. Assume the fees of other medical care relating to this. The hospital runs successfully with 250 patients everyday and good modern day medical facilities are availed for them. The people are well immunised and proper immunisation are given to children on time. THEY ARE SAFE.!

Well, Betgeri was saved by Dr.Solomon. But, in a vast country like India there are thousands of rural area in each state itself. But there aren't enough 'Dr.Solomon'. He sacrificed his work for the sake of thousands of people in that area. He literally saves 250 lives everyday. It wouldn't have sounded the same if he would have worked in a sophisticated city hospital where there are more than enough doctors providing medical care. Dr. Solomon through proper management and leadership skill was able to co-ordinate the hospital. The people need to get medical care whenever needed. The sacrifice and dedication of Dr.Solomon means so much to the people who wouldn't have even got proper medical attention in his absence. He won my heart.

I want to be a Dj

Well its sharp 4 am now and am not yet asleep.I can hear my mom screaming from bedroom, but as far as i am concerned, I am enjoying my holidays-2 months of sweet idleness! The sad part is only 10 more days left for my 2nd year classes to start.College is scheduled to start on July 1st :(. I have become really lazy after this long holidays. I am being childish like I don't want to go back to college. Though the holidays were boring initially, movies blogging music..and all really helped me a lot in passing time. I wish some magic being done over my college authorities to extent the holidays for one more month!

The hols were really boring at first. But I pierced my EYE-BROW(check out a post on that in my blog). It really got me going for a few days. I was always in front of mirror trying out various ROCK FREAK poses.hehe! I have a good movie collection. So I switched to watching movies(mainly TOM HANKS movies and ) from mirror gaze. But movies turned boring as time passed by. I started repelling to movies(now I m fine). Then I moved on to watching series like FRIENDS AND PRISON BREAK. Prison Break was one helluva time pass. I finished watching all four seasons. I would recommend watching that. Well, I needn't tell about FRIENDS. Joey-Chandler pair rocks. In the mean time, I took my driving lessons too from a nearby driving school. My driving test is scheduled on 29th of this month. Till date, everything has been going fine- dunno how it l turn out during test..Anyways do pray for me! :)

In between, I got my BSNL BROADBAND back. Guess wat, dad took my favorite plan-Night time. Its like 2 am to 8 am download free with speed 2 mbps unlike unlimited download plan. Well thats a reason why I am still awake(happy downloading :)) I downloaded all music and movies that i missed. I updated myself with latest releases like TERMINATOR 4, FAST N FURIOUS 4, NIGHT AT MUSEUM 2..(all latest release even the low budget movies). I came across a new genre of metal. I thought both heavy metal and death metal were same. But I was wrong. They both are extreme ends. I had never heard a single death metal band tat i was referred to hear. I tried out some good bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE, NILE, AMON AMARTH, CRYPTOPSY...(some more bands). Apart from movies, I enrolled into a holiday blogging contest conducted by my college authorities. Well, its still going on but I am pretty behind in the score board. Lost many bonus points due to late enrollment.

so guys chaow for now..well i am planning to pen down a poem(or at least some lines with a few rhyming words ;) ) for posting on this blog. Anyways keep reading and commenting my work. Inspiration and Encouragement is needed for a budding blogger like me!

One Gold For One Billion

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

Olympics is the biggest sporting event. It brings together all athletes from various nations. All countries participate in Olympics and hence getting a gold medal is hard and sweet when achieved. Olympics is the biggest stage an athlete can get. They will be representing your nation at the event. They will be representing billions at home praying for them. Being an Indian, I was proud to see my brothers and sisters participate in various events. But it is a paining fact that we could bag only 1 gold medal. The gold medal that Abhinav Bindra got in 10m air rifle event. Well many famous athletes like Anju Bobby George,R.S Rathore did mediocre performance. Our national game is hockey. The sad part is our hockey team didn't even qualify for Olympics. The list goes on and on. But what is the reason? why is India's medal prospects very low?Aren't there enough talents in a population of over 1 billion

Can anyone dare reply to these questions that India lacks talent. Every Indian knows that India has abundant talent. The problem is they are still deep in ocean and has to be fished out. India has a past record of producing legends like P.T Usha, Karnam Malleswari, Dhyan Chand, Leander Paes etc. But India needs to move on and come up with new set of talents. There are more athletes in our nation with a potential to break records and earn fame than these legends.

The thing that rolls out is poor administration. India is known for its weak and corrupt overall administration in every field. Let it be politics to govt. offices . Our administration doesn't nurture the talents. Talents need to scouted from each nook and corner of the country. There are a lot of discrepancies in the administration itself. There is no proper finite system to run neither the scouting nor the development of the scouted talents. Though funds have been allocated for the training and development of athletes by the govt. They don't reach the athletes. Many required facilities are not provided for the athletes and those provided will not be sufficient. Athletes are still equipped with those equipments used 20 years ago. Proper coaches are not available. The athletes need proper coaching to nurture their talent. India needs to focus on setting up a good athletic team overall. Each loop hole to corruption must be closed. Athletes must get their privileged facilities.

Well, the govt system alone can't be blamed. Mass media plays a significant role. Take the example of Abhinav Bindra. It was on a Monday morning that India created history by winning the first ever individual gold medal . It was the greatest achievement by any individual till date. It was a great moment for India. He had brought the greatest glory to Indian sports by fulfilling the dreams of a billion odd people. People had written off Bindra because he had recovered from a back injury. But he made a strong comeback and proved everyone wrong. The episode of Bindra winning a medal was shown by the media in all its glory . The Indian media treated him as a "demi god". I think its media who is responsible for the rise and fall of a sportsmen . When he is successful ,it projects him as a demi god and when he is going through a rough patch it doubts his talent and even questions his sincerity. If an athlete starts making mediocre performance despite his/her talents, media can make things go the better way by spurring on the athlete in an encouraging way rather than targeting them with a questionnaire that judges the sincerity of the athlete.

Well it's still not late. London Olympics is coming soon. The Beijing Olympics must be considered as a morale booster for the challenge that we are going to face in London Olympics. With the available talent and proper nourishment, India can produce another 5 'Phelps'. Thus on positive note, lets pray that London Olympics will be a good reply to the question "1 Gold for 1 billion??" by bagging more gold medals and making India proud. Lets hope tat we will hear our National Anthem at least 50 times in London Olympics!

Eat Food..But Dont Waste

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

Food is the basic need for survival for everyone. I eat three times a day-morning,noon and at night. I wish it is the same for everyone. But unfortunately world is not as sweet as I wish it to be. There are many people in this world who find it hard to get a handful of food! People even beg for food to satisfy their hunger. There are people in this world who satify their hunger with a meal for a day. But now, I would like to shed light on the irony involved. As science progressed, world progressed along- life styles changed, PEOPLE changed for the need!!When a section of poor and needy people are crying for a handful of food, on the other side people(including me) are wasting tonnes of food everyday. I confess that i waste food often. But don't you see an irony??on one side people are crying their stomachs out for one time meal and we on the other side wasting food tirelessly!

Chicken a la Carte

It is a short movie directed by Ferdinand Dimadura in the year 2005. The synopsis is about the hunger and poverty brought about by Globalization. There are 10,000 people dying everyday due to hunger and malnutrition. This short film shows a forgotten portion of the society. The people who live on the refuse of men to survive. What is inspiring is the hope and spirituality that never left this people.

Video:CHICKEN AL A CARTE

The movie is about a deprived family feeding on the wastes and leftovers from a restaurant. The movie portrays a person working at a restaurant and how he finds food to feed his family. He picks up all the leftover food, and takes it back to his home. At home, the kids will be eagerly waiting for him to come so that they can fill their little tummy. The director has been able to shake me off with that. The smiles that bring on the kids face while eating it really etched something painful deep in my heart. The kid bears an innocent smile on its face and eats the food given.

Its really painful to see people suffer for their food. We all fuss for each and everything. We get everything the moment we seek for it. Let it be good dress, good food, car, bike, computer and the list goes. We all dream a lot. We getting LCD Tv or a good laptop or something luxurious. But there are a lot of people who dream just like us but not for these luxuries, but just to have their tummies filled at least for a day. They would just be glad not to worry for food for a day. We are not to be blamed because our parents brought us everything we asked for. Hence we don't know how it feels when we are deprived of it. Our parents never wanted us to bother too. We complain for a slight change of taste in the food we eat. We even have our favorites in food. Some may like spicy foods and some may not. But these innocent needy people just wish for food irrespective of taste or vegetable!! I would like to ask you just a simple silly question- Have you ever snubbed food given to you at least once in your life.??well frankly i have snubbed food a lot. But once we know how hard it is, when we are deprived of it- we would never ever repeat it in our life.!

MY SUGGESTION
I would like to share some ideas. They may not be realistic or silly. Anyways i would do my part. It has been occuring to me that these CELEBRITIES irrespective of bollywood or hollywood have obviously a lot of money with them. Wouldn't it be nice if these SUPERSTARS could donate something for the rich and needy. I won't ask them to give away everything they have. Like at least one percent of the money they receive from each movie for helping the needy? World could be a lot better place to live then. For example Akshay Kumar earns 35 crores from each movie i think.I am not sure. Approximate it to 25 crores. 1 % of 25 crores is 25 lakhs. Well he has got the rest with him and I dont think no celebrities has their cost of living more than 1 lakh per month. It is the extreme case. Apart from all these, won't they get the good feeling when they help someone. When they see the poor and needy satisfying themselves because of them. Just think how beautiful the world can be if all the celebrities end up helping the poor and needy. This is applicable to all those who are well settled in their lives-business tycoons, rich sportspersons etc.
Those who are capable of helping must help the needy. If your conscience doesnt allow you, just swap your position with the needy.!

I would like to share the example of one such celebrity- Rajni Kanth. He may do all sorts of craps like killing 2 people with 1 bullet. But nobody knows what life he lives. MTV Fabulous life once Telecasted assets he hold. Well all celebrities have exotic cars and bikes-Ferrari,BMW,Audi etc. Well Rajni Kanth still travels in his Ambassador car. He earns around 20 crores i think from 1 single movie. But he donates half of it to the poor and needy. How many of you have seen Rajni Kanth in full make-up apart from movies(he gotta project himself nicely in movies to attract people..!) He leads a simple life. He has a peaceful life too.! I am not canvassing being a Rajni fan. But don't you feel this genuine? Have you ever heard him claim his charitable works in media like how our bollywood celebrities do??I wish every one rise to the occasion and bridge the ever-widening gap between Rich And Poor!

I want to make a change in this world. Each person is entitled to lead a peaceful life like us. It might be insignificant comparing this vast human population in the world. But if everyone starts doing their part, assume how things can change!!So rise upto the occasion my dear brothers and sisters! Lets roll up our sleeves and get to work. Lets Do some good things in our life.!

Smoking is Fashion???

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

My dear Brothers and Sisters of another mother.Do you smoke? You needn't answer me. Please quit smoking at least for mom's sake. We all have learnt from small classes in school about various harmful effects of smoking. Don't you dare disagree that! Despite these attempts made by our teachers at school, people still do smoke. The ironical thing is that they smoke even in public. Smoking not only harms the smoker but also the people around him while smoking. The cigarettes contain carcinogenic substances like nicotine which are absolutely repellent for the body. Smoking can lead to all sorts of lung diseases, heart attacks and other pulmonary diseases. Smoking can even cause mouth cancer. The thing we can observe is that the pathway through which the smoke passes inside our body is totally devastated. Right from mouth to lungs. The disease that the victim is gonna catch depends like a lottery. He/she can get a mouth cancer alone or sometimes a combo of mouth cancer + frequent heart attacks REALLY COOL, ISN'T IT????

DO YOU KNOW THAT:

According to recent world-wide survey, it is observed that
  • About a third of the male adult global population smokes
  • Every day, around 80,000-1,00,000 kids start smoking
  • Every eight seconds, someone dies from tobacco use. Around five million people around the world die of smoking every year
  • About 15 billion cigarettes are sold daily – or 10 million every minute
  • Among young teens (aged 13 to 15), about one in five smokes worldwide.

SMOKING AMONG CHILDREN

One of the devasting stigma in the society is smoking habit among children. I can rather use the terminology "SMOKING AMONG YOUTH", but i feel children would be more apt. The children in the age group 10-15 yrs old,who have jus started their lives are seen smoking. In that age where they are just developing in all aspects-mentally,physically,socially etc, smoking pose a hurdle for it. Smoking appeals progressive to them, the new age terminology is COOL.!Is smoking really cool? Having a cigarette bud in your mouth is sick rather than cool..!its stupid and foolish for oneself smoking despite knowing the mere fact that one is dying every second because of it! Kids assume themselves as adults once they start smoking. It is an assumption that once you start smoking you are an adult. Another main reason is fantasizing them with their favorite icons. With no offense, I would like to share something i experienced ie, I have seen people smoking because Shah Rukh Khan smokes in the movie DON. So it is the new trend. Smoking is latest fashion quotient and those who don't follow it are out-dated or geeky! See how things go around. Children, by smoking, end up distorting their internal organs. The harmful substance in the smoke inhibits the growth of all internal organs. The kids in their later life, maybe after 20 years will start to feel the harmful effects they incurred by smoking 20 yrs before. It is a slow assassin!

MY OPINION AND SUGGESTIONS :)

I strongly feel that making people aware of the facts regarding smoking, is never going to wake them up from the nutshells. Just by informing a smoker that around 1/3 of male population in world smokes, inspires or rather encourages him to smoke because when you smoke there are a lot of people smoking along with you in a way. I would rather be a part of a strong move or campaign that rather stresses on experiences rather than the science involved in smoking. People should be shaken off. Campaign must include very brutal effects of smoking. Media and Mass communication must be banned from telecasting anything that can tamper people like showing scenes involving smoking in movies, tv serials etc. It plays a significant role. People get inspired when they see their favorite stars smoke in mini as well as silver screen. Another main point I would like to share is, Why not banning cigarettes completely rather than a good-for-nothing statutary warning "SMOKING IS INJURIOUS TO HEALTH". I bet most smokers dont even care to read what's written.! Why isn't it banned completely if it's known that it kills and is of no use in a positive way.!! WAKE UP!

A video showing harmful effects!!

CLOCK IS TICKING TIME AWAY!!

Smoking a cigarette once can even lead to addiction. It is noticed generally that smoking for first time will be completely out of curiousity and to test how it feels. The first time will create a small decoy to try it once more. Person keeps trying which is called in terminology as addiction. Deeper you are addicted, harder it will be to quit smoking. But i advise all my brothers and sisters to quit smoking rather than prolonging it. Life may seem pretty cool and fun ride now. But it can turn against because of this smoking. Just remember the words

".....WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.."

I would rather suggest you to take it as a warning than a threat that will turn into reality sooner or later. There is only one solution to come out of this cob-web that is to quit smoking. There is no use in decreasing the amount or frequency of your smoking pattern. Put a big round full stop..!!QUIT SMOKING..

'Perfect Leader' For India

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

Video:Shah Rukh Khan Promoting Lead India Campaign

Lead India is a television initiative launched on India's 60th Independence Day by The Times Of India Group in search of a new bold leader for India. Well the sole purpose behind this initiative is to find a new leader from the various applicants for the programme. The applicants can be aged between 25 and 45. The winner or rather the 'Perfect Leader' will be chosen through various stages like in any other song or dance reality show. The programme was presented by Anupam Kher who is well known in Bollywood industry for his acting. The programme promised the winner a seat in Assembly elections as well as an amount of 50 lakhs to be invested in any public welfare project of his/her choice, added to these the winner is also offered a seat at Harvard University for Leadership And Politics Course. Almost prominent people from all fields participated for the campaign, in fact for its promotion so that it can reach each nook and corner in India. Well after its first Season, R.K Mishra from Bangalore was named winner. He is now given chance pursue a political career with a ticket from either the Congress or the BJP, or as an independent candidate, all aided by intensive grooming at the Kennedy School or at the Times School of Political Leadership - is secondary

MY OPINION

I found this campaign as a really heat-spurring one. It really does encourage the youth to step into limelight and lead the nation through correct path. India is democratic and picking right leader lies in the good interest for the nation. The programme was more or less like finding diamonds from garbages. In such a vast nation like India, there might be many people whose skills are still untested or not enough exposure to bring themselves out of their nutshell. The programme got around 40000 entries. I won't disagree with the fact that more than half of the applicants are attracted by the huge amount involved in winning and the fame they gonna earn through this programme. But it won't be a restraint in this programme as the applicants are filtered thoroughly to choose the best in the pond. The programme was really benefited by the involvement of Bollywood. It really aided in the publicity of the programme. Youth were inspired seeing their Bollywood Icons spurring the latter through numerous videos. Youth is the future of every nation. They are going to lead the country sooner or later. Programmes like Lead India Campaign inspires people to come out of their comfort zones and work for the nation. If anyone have the potential to lead a nation, they can be encouraged only through programmes like these.Jaagore India..!!!

how to use torrents

Posted by Deepak Hariharan

Yo.!

torrents are like small size files(in kb almost) used for peer to peer download usually(sorry for tis sophisticated crap..i l make things look easier.)torrent files will usually be .torrent files. Today its like u will get anything needed for computer through torrents free of cost. Note this - its free of cost. U can get movies,music,games,softwares,e-books,pics n the list goes on. Basically what happens in torrents is like somebody who has a file(jus consider it movie or watever), he will create a .torrent file and upload it some torrent search sites. Users in need of that files downloads that .torrent file and opens it in torrent softwares like utorrent,bit-torrent etc. Thus its jus like usual download only where u download files which are uploaded by some1 on other side.

so lets get to real stuff tat u need to know..
Things You Need To Have
  1. High speed internet like broadband.(dial-up works too..but will be damn slow..broadband would be better)
  2. A good torrent client..call it software tat l b better..I strongly advise utorrent..Other softwares available are Bit-torrent,azeurus etc.You can get utorrent from this link below(no spams n all) http://download.cnet.com/uTorrent/3000-2196_4-10528327.html ps: after installing utorrent, speed guide will come when u run it first time choose connection type maximum one provided..in it xx/100mbit or somethin
  3. A list of torrent search engines. You can either search from the search menu provided in utorrent or else u can directly go to these sites and search.Sites that i l recommend are www.isohunt.com, www.mininova.org. I use these two sites and i guarantee full safety from spywares and stuff. A large number of search engines are available than these two.
Once you have these next will be download a file(lets say u want terminator 4)..so in your web browser, get to any of torrent search engine, say mininova.org, and search for terminator 4 in search bar(ps: in most of search engines the search bar will be the first thing u notice so don worry like how u l find search bar n all)..then the search result will show all torrent files for terminator 4..then next thing choosing right torrent.(ITS IMPORTANT)..in the search results..sort them in decreasing order of seed..

pic 1:before sorting

pic 2: after sorting..

so download the torrent with most number of seeds. But if your search engine provides comment facility, i advise u to check it and then download to avoid fake torrents..in comments previous downloaders leave comment about the files quality and stuff..

PIC 3: Comments..

u can either save the torrent into your hard disk and open it with utorrent or else you can directly open the torrent file..when u click the download torrent a pop up menu will come wit two options open and save..u jus need to select open at tat time and choose utorrent to open the file..then a small menu will come..with list of files in the torrents..when torrent is of music, u can choose which all songs to download..if u are an amateur in download i would rather suggest don worry about tat..in tat menu, you can select where to download the files(real files not torrent) into your hard disk..then click ok..

now in the software, your download would have started.now the thing left to do is make your download faster.
  1. right click on the downloading torrent and hover mouse over bandwidth allocation and select high
  2. u can restrict upload speed if ur broadband is based on download accountfor tat right click downloadin torrent and select properties. In the properties dialog box, u l b seeing an option maximum upload rate-enter 1 in tat and click ok then..
  3. Next thing you can do to improvise download speed is click the downloading torrent, u can see a files option..the utorrent is actually divided into two half..one showing all torrents..the other on below has many subdivisions displayed next to next..it has general, trackers, peers, pieces, files, speed, logger. So 1st click on torrent and then on files in the below part..It will display all the files in the torrent tat u r downloadin..select all and right click..in the pop up dialog select high priority..!
Now the download depends all on your internet speed..

Some Tips :))

  1. In preferences dialog box, when u select connection option on left..ter l b an option for port..and below it randomise port..keep clickin(nt so hard as it seems) till u get port in ten thousands ie port shld start wit 1 :P
  2. Do not download many files at same time though ur broadband is quick enough.Try to balance it wit around 6-8 downloads at a time
  3. Its really easy to learn bout torrents,i dunno y people worry so much bout using torrents..its not so complex and all!the best way to get used is explore tat utorrent completely..!
